Locke + Co Aspen Aged Rye Whiskey

A bright, fresh Rye Whiskey made lofty and bold by the addition of aspen wood to the finishing process.

Locke + Co Distilling was founded by Owen Locke and Rick Talley. Owen had started home brewing at the age of fifteen — that we’re sure is “of age” somewhere in the world — and was itching to experiment with Rye Whiskey as an adult. Rick is his childhood friend and lacrosse teammate who attended college together AND both worked as sales experts for Beam Suntory. Together they purchased a twenty-three gallon still in 2010 and transformed a garage into an entrepreneurial laboratory of alcohol.

Locke + Co Aspen Aged Rye Whiskey is — so far — their one and only product. It is a classic American Rye Whiskey made from 95% and 5% malted barley. The kicker is that during the aging process Owen and Rick put disks of local Colorado aspen wood into the casks. This remarkable addition brings a distinctive aroma that reminds us of a mountain meadow. The finished Spirit is bottled at a very nice 45% ABV.
