Description
A light, crisp, and summery combination of Scottish and Virginian Single Malts.
The Blue Ridge Mountains of central Virginia are better known for Moonshine and renegade distilleries. Virginia Distillery Company is changing all that. The late Dr. George G. Moore moved arrived in Virginia from Ireland in 1970 where he raised his family and dreamed of making Whisky. In 2011, that dream become a reality when he founded Virginia Distillery Company with his wife, son, and daughter-in-law — who continue to run the operation. They currently have four Malt Whiskies in their portfolio, with another specially-sourced and aged Single Malt version due in 2020.
For Virginia Distilling’s Chardonnay Cask Finished Highland Whisky they built upon the huge success of their inaugural Port-finished spirit. This time, the same combination of matured Scottish Single Malt and Virginia Single Malt are married in locally-sourced Chardonnay casks from four local wineries — Michael Shaps, Virginia Wineworks, Grace Estate Winery, and Paradise Springs Winery. This yields a fresh, crisp dram with hints of hay and apple bottled at 46% ABV.
