Description
An intriguing blend of sixteen Scotches.
In 2005, Alex Nicol and Jane Eastwood, a husband-wife team, established Spencerfield Spirit named after the farmhouse overlooking Firth of Forth, their HQ. They began offering Sheep Dip (introduced in 1974) and Pig’s Nose (1977), brands they’d acquired from Whyte & Mackay. Since 2016, both brands and distilleries have belonged to Ian Macleod Distillers.
Sheep Dip, luckily, doesn’t taste like the fungicide it’s named after but rather has a beautifully rich and honeyed character. (The farmers reportedly gave it such a name to hide invoiced Whisky from accountants.) Sheep Dip is a blend of sixteen Malts from Speyside and the Highlands, using the same original recipe. It’s a no-age-statement offering, but the Malts are up to two decades old, matured in first-fill Sherry, refill oak, and ex-Bourbon casks. Won Gold at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition!
