Description
Mouthwatering and unique Spirit from the Bourbon Capital of the World.
Willett Distillery AKA Kentucky Bourbon Distillers came about the same year they completed Hoover Dam (it was 1936). It was founded by the second generation distiller and his sons, Lambert Willett, who didn’t wait long to produce his first batch: in 1937, he already had 30 barrels of Bourbon in the warehouse. Located in the legendary town of Bardstown, Kentucky, the distillery was holding the pen as the history of Bourbon was being written. KBD has been called “the big Daddy of Bourbon and Rye,” which is a title we would love to use when being introduced to people. Now, the Willetts do that clever thing where they produce several brands under fictitious company names, like a superstar rock band that wants to play club gigs. The Old Bardstown Distilling Company and the Noah’s Mill Distilling Company are, among others, actually KBD.
Old Bardstown Estate Bottled Kentucky Straight Bourbon celebrates the American thoroughbred racehorse and is made from a mostly-corn mash. It was put away for ten years, resting in new American oak barrels, and bottled at 101 Proof. Its character is reminiscent of Scotch, which is interesting to explore if you’re a Bourbon-head.
