Glenglassaugh Revival For Sale
Glenglassaugh Revival Online. A tale of rejuvenation and rebirth. Approximately sixty miles east of Inverness, on Sandend Bay, the Glenglassaugh Distillery was constructed in 1875. This small distillery has produced single malt for over a century, fully blended into mixes such as Cutty Sark, The Famous Grouse, and Laing’s.
However, by 1986, it was outclassed by bigger, more contemporary facilities, and the owners shuttered the entire establishment. However, the Scaent Group purchased the property in 2008, released some older casks stored to positive acclaim, and subsequently renovated everything to resume producing a wide variety of single malts. Now, they are owned by Brown-Forman.
Since the stills were restarted, Glenglassaugh single malt scotch whisky has been the first new single malt spirit released, and it’s a terrific one. Notably, it is matured in a combination of former wine and former bourbon barrels. After being vatted, those casks are re-casked in sherry butts. This mixture produces a warm copper-gold look. It also highlights the flavor of plum and berries from the wine casks and rich notes of nuts, toffee, and chocolate from the sherry casks. Whatever your preference, Glenglassaugh whisky is a superb Highland single malt that has been resurrected.
