Description
Only 2,168 bottles of this full-flavored Indiana Rye were produced.
It was in 2018 when Bill Straub and Bob D’Antoni, both Whiskey enthusiasts, founded the Four Gate Whiskey Company in Kentucky and launched their mission to release très petits batches of unique combinations of Whiskey and finish barrels. And boy did they mean it when they said unique. Partnering with Kelvin Cooperage, a family-owned barrel supplier founded in 1963 in Scotland and currently based in Louisville, the combinations of quality Whiskey blends and used barrels they put together are so exotic it almost seems like you didn’t read it right. From Bourbon finished in Cognac and Dark Rum casks to Bourbon finished in Orange Curaçao and Gin casks, there is really no idea too wild for Four Gate and they make it work.
Based on a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, Four Gate Rye DownUnder Batch 16 is a 7YO Indiana Rye Whiskey. It was finished in Apera Sherry casks that were imported from Australia by the famous Kelvin Cooperage. Clocking in at a barrel proof o 110.2 proof, this lovely dram is full-bodied and packed with spicy rye flavors, sweet fruit, and nutty notes that come from those fine Sherry barrels.
