Description
A complex finishing process makes for a complex dram.
What began with only a small batch of bourbon barrels is today a unique collection of American Whiskies. There are still only 4 employees at Doc Swinson’s but their dedication to perfection is enough for their Washington facility to keep winning accolades at the New York International Spirits Competition, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and the SIP awards. Oh, and they release every one of their highly limited small batches at cask strength, letting you taste them in their full-blown glory.
Doc Swinson’s Alter Ego Sherry & Cognac Cask Finish Bourbon Whiskey is what happens when you’ve spent years experimenting with cask finishing and you know exactly what you’re doing. It’s crafted from a blend of 2 straight bourbons from MGPI in Indiana – one with a 21% rye and the other 36% mash bill. It was aged for 5-6 years in new charred American oak before being blended and finished in three special casks: two types of sherry buts – PX and Oloroso – as well as fresh cognac puncheons. There, the bourbons were finished for 3 months before their 1-month long marriage in cognac foeders. You can expect a smooth and light dance of honey, oak, and leather flavors.
