Description
An exceptional example of Booker;’s, the first release of 2021 is a flavor powerhouse at over 62% ABV.
Jim Beam Distillery — the integral part of mega-corp Beam Suntory — is one of the largest Bourbon producers in the world. Seven generations of the Beam Family have worked the stills there since 1795. The Jim Beam Distillery makes an unusually large number of offerings for it’s core Jim Beam line and several brands, including Red Stag, Jacob’s Ghost, and a selection of higher end “small batch” Bourbons — Baker’s, Basil Hayden’s, Knob Creek, and our Bourbon of the day, Booker’s.
Booker’s “Donohoe’s Batch” is named after Mike Donohoe — a now retired Jim Beam employee and friend to 6th generation master distiller Booker Noe. It is officially the first batch of the year, so it’s batch number is 2021-01. This version of uncut, unfiltered Bourbon glory has been aged for exactly six years, eleven months, and four days in virgin American white oak. And it’s bottled at a skyscraping 62.65% ABV.
Smartass Corner:
The story goes that Mike Donohoe was the guy who convinced Booker Noe to bottle up the first edition of Booker’s Bourbon to give as special gifts to their best industry partnerss. The rest is history.
