May there always be an Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Bourbon by your side.
Lincoln Henderson stepped out of his retirement to break some rules. Pairing up with his son, Wes, the duo decided to explore secondary barrel finishing, a technique common in Scotch production but not so much in the traditional way of the Bourbon. The crux of the project revolved around creating something new within the family-knit network — and what originally started as a father and son endeavor quickly turned into a three-generational assemblage, with Wes’s son Kyle joining the party. With the family skilfully rebelling against the established Bourbon practices, the Louisville-based company now stands as the most commercially successful brand that uses a double-maturation process. With the mandatory “angel’s share,” the only thing that stays in those barrels after the evaporation is a limited quantity of smooth, delicious Angel’s Envy.
Their annual Cask Strength release is a highly awaited tradition in the world of exceptional Whiskey enjoyers — and that might be an understatement. Their 11th release also marks a new milestone, with their new Master Distiller Owen Martin’s twist to the beloved Cask Strength program. So, as per usual, only the noteworthiest of barrels got picked for the finishing process in Port Wine Barrels, producing a mouthwatering Bourbon Whiskey — a creamy swirl of apples, caramel, and brown sugar bottled at 119.8 proof, and available in only 16,980 bottles. You know how it goes… you snooze, you lose.
