Description
A marvelously-aged Single Malt from Aberfeldy finished in Bordeaux Red Wine casks for a luscious experience.
Aberfeldy is a smaller production house in the Highlands along the River Tay. It was actually founded by John Dewer himself in 1896. And even though Dewers is a large producer and a subsidiary of Bacardi, Little Aberfeldy occupies a special spot in their history. In fact, Dewers has located their museum and “World of Whisky” attraction there.
They keep things simple at Aberfeldy. All of their grain is locally grown and they use only native Scottish yeasts. The water flows from a stream passing by the distillery — Pitilie Burn. All of their Whisky is aged in ex-Bourbon casks on site. Don’t you just love it when a division of a large company like Dewers and Bacardi keeps one foot firmly planted in the past like this?
We love a little Aberfeldy in the evening… or the mid-day… or just about anytime we can respectfully lay our thirsty lips to a dram. But when you can get your hands on one of these limited editions, it’s even better.
What we have here is batch #2920 of Aberfeldy’s 18 year-old French Red Wine Cask-Finished Single Malt. They have aged their signature Spirit for a full eighteen years in first-fill, refill, and re-charred Bourbon casks. That’s pretty special as it is. But they have finished this lovely dram up to five more months in those Bordeaux Red Wine barrels. And it doesn’t get much better than this.
