Description
This rare gem was put to rest back in 1974.
Tobermory distillery is situated on the Scottish island of Mull, in the village of Tobermory. The distillery, formerly known as Ledaig, is the only distillery on the island. It was founded in 1798 by John Sinclair and has changed hands several times, having undergone a number of periods of closure.
These days the brand name Tobermory is used for all their unpeated malt Whisky, while the (lightly) peated Whisky is sold as Ledaig.
Released in 2016, Tobermory 42 Year Islay Single Malt spent a whopping 42 years in a cask. That’s almost half a century, mind you, and more than enough time for the fruity yet nutty palate to develop unparalleled flavors of charred oak, dark fruit, berries, and a touch of spice. The 650 produced offerings were bottled at a cask strength of 95.4 proof. Without any chill filtering or artificial coloring, naturally.
